In an effort to promote football and bring together the sports enthusiast in the district, the Mon District Football Association (MDFA) organized a special exhibition match under the theme Football for Peace played between the Aizawl FC and Mon XI at Pangting Astro Turf ground, Mon Village, Mon on 2nd June, 2026.

Joint Secretary, Nagaland Football Association, Sunep Longchar addressing the gathering, acknowledged the Government of Nagaland, for its relentless efforts to promote the sports fraternity in the state. The initiative will promote wider peace and unity in the state and beyond, he added.

Stressing on the theme of the match Football for Peace, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS, in his short speech, said that the event will not only promote football sports but will also strengthen peace, unity and brotherhood through football in the Northeast.

He also expressed his gratitude to the visiting team Aizawl FC, Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and Mon District Football Association (MDFA) for providing an opportunity to the football enthusiast of the district to experience a new level of football match through a friendly play with the home team Mon XI FC.
