The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has stated that it fully supports the demand made by Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) for construction of road between Rotary Junction and IOC intersection point in Mokokchung.

“The deplorable road condition hampers the smooth movement of vehicles as well as is a primary cause of accidents while trying to avert the potholes in the middle of the road”, AKM said in a press statement.

It highlighted that despite of it being a key road, it had been neglected for years apart from the “temporarily patched” it received in September 2024 under the initiatives by the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference.

“Good roads are a basic right of every citizen and directly impacts the quality of life. We want to remind the department and the government the responsibility to ensure well-constructed and maintained roads”, AKM stated while urging the concerned department to urgently look into the matter by allocating special sanction for repair before the arrival of monsoon season.
