The Ao Students Conference (AKM) has raised concern over the critical shortage of subject teachers in schools within the Mokokchung district. This pressing issue was brought to light through a letter on December 14 by the Saringyim (Nokpu-B) Students Union.
According to the information disclosed by the Saringyim Students Union, GHS Saring, operating under DEO Mokokchung, has been experiencing a severe scarcity of subject teachers, specifically in Ao, Science, Hindi, and Mathematics. Despite achieving a remarkable 100 percentile record in the HSLC exam over the past five years, GHS Saring currently operates with only 13 teachers, a stark contrast to the mandated 24 teachers according to the Government Notification of 28th March 2022 No.DSE/STAFF-PATTERN/2014 for a high school.

The Ao Students Conference, in a letter to the Principal Director of School Education urgently appealed to the Government to acknowledge and address this critical situation, placing a special emphasis on GHS Saring. The shortage of teachers, particularly in essential subjects like Mathematics, Science, Hindi, and Ao, poses a significant hindrance to the educational development of students.
With the academic session of 2024 on the horizon, the Conference requested swift action from the education authorities to rectify this shortage by deploying teachers in accordance with the staffing pattern. Ensuring that students have access to qualified teachers in all subjects is deemed crucial for a comprehensive and well-rounded education.
Appreciating the anticipated prompt attention of the authorities, the AKM placed trust on the Government to take proactive steps to resolve the shortage of subject teachers before the commencement of the next academic session.
