Anti-Narcotic Task Force constituted in Wokha

In an effort to contain and tackle the menace of drug abuse in the district, a dedicated Anti-Narcotic Task Force under Wokha Police was constituted with an aim to reduce supply and demand of illicit drugs in the district.

According to Wokha Police, as one of the functions and responsibilities of the Task Force, the team will endeavour to visit colonies to conduct seminars on drug abuse and to try to have an interactive session with the youths.

On their first assignment, the team while conducting a round check in and around Tsumang colony apprehended eight persons who were found to be regular drug users. In order to prevent commission or breach of peace and tranquillity, the apprehended persons were forwarded to the Executive Magistrate Wokha vide Non-FIR 11-18/ U/S 107 &110 Cr.PC.

The team will continue the random checking and raid in the town areas, Wokha Police has informed, for which cooperation from the citizens is solicited as drug menace has become a social issue and requires a concerted effort.
