Applications invited under NCF for children affected by violence

The Deputy Commissioner, Kohima has informed that in pursuance of the Department of Social Welfare letter and the Ministry of Women and Child Development letter, a new category of ‘Care and Education’ has been introduced under the National Children’s Fund (NCF).

The scheme aims to provide financial assistance for the care and education of children orphaned or rendered destitute due to terrorist violence, Left Wing Extremism (LWE), insurgency, or cross-border firing.

The District Committee, headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, has been entrusted with the responsibility of identifying and verifying eligible beneficiaries in the district for submission of proposals under the scheme.

In this regard, applications have been invited from eligible candidates in Kohima district for availing financial assistance under the National Children’s Fund.

Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 1,250 per month per child is admissible for studies up to Class XII, ITI, diploma courses, computer courses and other similar educational programmes. Beneficiaries pursuing graduation and post-graduation courses are eligible for financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per month per child, while those enrolled in professional courses such as medical, engineering and other professional studies are entitled to receive Rs 1,700 per month per child.

Eligible beneficiaries have been requested to submit their applications to the District Committee through the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, for further necessary action.
