Assam Rifles conducts Awareness Lecture on Drug Abuse for school students in Wokha

Wokha: Students advised on importance of making informed choices, seeking peer support, and engaging in healthy activities

The Assam Rifles organized an Awareness Lecture on Drug at Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School, Wokha on Monday to educate students on the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of leading a healthy, drug-free life.

During the session, various officers of the Assam Rifles provided lectures on several critical topic such as Understanding Drug Abuse. The lecture highlighted a detailed explanation of drug abuse, the different types of drugs commonly misused, and how they affect the human body and mind.

Short-term and long-term health effects of drug abuse were also discussed with emphasis on the physical, psychological, and emotional toll it takes on individuals. Furthermore, they discussed on the social ramifications, including its impact on families, friends, and communities, alongside the legal consequences associated with drug possession and trafficking.

The officers also advised the students on the importance of making informed choices, seeking peer support, and engaging in healthy activities. Additionally, students were informed about available resources for addiction recovery, such as counselling services and rehabilitation centres.

The event concluded with an interactive session between the students and the organizers.
