Assam Rifles Veterans Day celebration held in Wokha

The Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Chieswema Battalion commemorated Veterans Day paying tribute to veterans, Veer Naris, and their families at Wokha COB on March 23. The event saw a turnout of 67 veterans, one Veer Nari, alongside 17 families and six children.

Col. Rohit Jakhar, Commandant of the Chieswema Battalion, spoke on the significance of Veterans Day, expressing Assam Rifles’ deep honor in hosting the event. He pledged continued support for veterans and their families, encapsulating the atmosphere with the quote, “As the sun illuminated the faces of those gathered, the spirit of camaraderie and solidarity was palpable.”

Earlier, the programme commenced with a medical camp giving veterans access to healthcare services. Canteen facilities were also provided to the veterans and their families.

In a display of remembrance, a wreath-laying ceremony was also conducted, paying homage to the sacrifices of the brave soldiers and their families.

Later, an entertainment and games session was organised for attendees.
