The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has expressed  shock over the verbal abuse of students and physical assault perpetrated by Professor Sarat Chandra Yenissetti against one of his colleague on November 25, at Nagaland University, Lumami campus.

The Union condemned the misconduct especially in an educational environment that foster learning, growth and mutual respect. “These actions are completely unacceptable and represent a gross violation of fundamental principles of respect, dignity and professionalism in an institution. The absurd acts of Professor Sarat Chandra Yenisseti have tremendously hurt the sentiments of the students’ fraternity, more so, tarnishing the image of the University which is popularly recognized for its credibility. The absence of “sense” in a highly qualified academician is beyond belief and as such, his presence in the university furthermore is peril to the university at large,” stated the ASU in a condemnation.

The union further implored upon the concerned authorities to deliver justice to the victims and that befitting action as per the University rules and law of the land be immediately initiated against the perpetrator.

“Until justice is delivered, we shall stand united and unwavering. For “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”,” stated the ASU.
