Awareness workshop on branding and marketing under PM Vishwakarma scheme held at Kohima and Mon

The MSME Development & Facilitation Office, Dimapur, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, in association with the District Industries Centre (DIC), Kohima, organised a one-day awareness workshop on ‘Branding and Marketing’ under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme at the DPDB Conference Hall, Kohima District on September 11.

Delivering the keynote address, ADC Kohima, Ruopfukuotuo Noudi, highlighted the benefits of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme for local artisans and craftspeople in Nagaland. He stated that several programmes have been conducted for the benefit of local artisans, with the scheme providing them with identity and certification, skill upgradation and assistance in the form of toolkits.

He said the scheme aims to make traditional professions commercially viable and facilitate the formalisation of micro enterprises at the local level. He also emphasised the importance of promoting local artisans and expressed appreciation to the Department of Industries and MSME for organising the awareness programme.

The programme was chaired by Functional Manager, District Industries Centre, Kohima, Wekrope Akami who informed that the first tranche of loans under the scheme had been sanctioned and the loans were being awarded to some beneficiaries during the programme. The sanctioned loans were handed over to the applicants by the ADC.

The welcome address was delivered by Functional Manager, DIC Kohima, Jessy Jurry. She highlighted the importance of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in recognising and supporting traditional artisans and craftspeople. She said the workshop was organised to create greater awareness of the scheme and provide beneficiaries with a practical insight into its various components and their implementation.

The workshop provided participants with practical inputs on Product Packaging, Labelling and Designing by Executive Secretary of WENN and co-founder of Naga Bowl Bakery, Loni Khing; Artificial Intelligence (AI) Training and E-commerce Onboarding by State Programme Management Unit, PM Vishwakarma, H. Yitule Krichena; Export Development and QR Code Generation by Executive, India Post Payments Bank, Kohima, Ritu Pruna Prusty; Financial Literacy and Interaction by  Lead District Manager, Kohima, Panii Eliakim; and Business Development by Financial Analyst, RAMP, Sutsunglila Pongen. The inputs were aimed at enhancing the participants’ knowledge and skills in branding, marketing, digital platforms, financial management and business development, enabling them to strengthen and expand their respective enterprises.

A one-day awareness workshop on branding and marketing under PM Vishwakarma was conducted on September 9 at Town Council Hall, Mon. The Keynote address was delivered by Extra Assistant Commissioner, Mon Sardar, Shekhozo Vero, NCS, where he addressed the gathering, sharing key insights and perspectives relevant to the workshop’s objectives.

The workshop focused on the important aspects of business development, including product packaging, labelling and designing, Artificial Intelligence and E-commerce, export development, QR code generation, financial literacy and digital business development. Welcome address was delivered by Functional Manager, District Industries Centre, Wokha, M. Chingo Konyak.

Product Packaging, Labelling and Designing was conducted by Entrepreneur, Founder of Ipseity & Bake&Co., Mon, Allen Konyak. The session covered product development based on customer needs and market demand. The session outlined designing and branding structures across three distinct levels- primary packaging for single items, secondary packaging for multiple products and tertiary packaging for large scale export and import goods- to cultivate a strong brand identity and story.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Training and E-Commerce On boarding was conducted by State Programme Management Unit PM Vishwakarma, Lohe Lokajiia Victoria. The session demonstrated how AI tools enhance product picture quality and streamline workflows to save time, energy and financial resources.

An interactive activity provided hands-on instructions to the artisans, teaching them how to utilize AI for improving product images, packaging design, and labelling. Additionally, the presentation highlighted the importance of GST registration foe digital market entry.

Export Development and QT Code Generation was conducted by Executive, India Post Payments Bank, Mon, Sumit Kumar where he discussed export promotion and market expansion, including product quality, market reach and delivery, scaling artisans’ products from local to global markets by implementing strict quality standards, careful grading and product filtering to meet international guidelines. He highlighted the logistics infrastructure being deployed to support the export initiatives. This portion of the session detailed the establishment of a dedicated export help desk within the Post Office networks and the rollout of unique QR codes to artisans.

Financial Literacy and Interaction was conducted by Field Officer, SBI Mon, Shonpong Konyak. He discussed the core principles of investing, budgeting and loan repayment. He stated that financial mismanagement was a primary cause of business failure, stressing that individuals of all income levels must practice strong financial literacy. The presentation emphasized the importance of investment, particularly through Life Insurance Policies, alongside maintaining strict credit discipline through timely loan repayments to protect credit scores, along with awareness of digital fraud and online financial safety.

Financial Analyst, RAMP, Polem, delivered a presentation on integrated business growth, planning and networking. She emphasized that proper planning matter heavily for expansion, advising artisans to set SMART monthly targets to guide their growth. The session focused on achieving product clarity establishing a Unique Selling Proposition (USP) understanding target customers and pricing products correctly. Later, during the practical session, the artisans were instructed to undertake an activity demonstrating the critical role of effective communication in business development.

The workshop concluded with a comprehensive overview of digital business development, emphasizing smart planning, correct product pricing, and effective communication as vital tools for long term growth. Participants left equipped with actionable insights across export readiness, strict financial literacy, and modern marketing strategies to successfully scale their businesses.
