Basayi Keyho today emerged as the champion of the 46th wrestling meet of Phek Wrestling Association (PWA) held at Phek village.Johi Rhakho and Hashe-o Venuh secured the second and third position respectively.
Keyho was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 35,000 sponsored by Vepalu Khesoh in memory of her husband late Zhosheto Khesoh.
Johi Rhakho who stood second position was awarded with Rs. 20,000 sponsored by Vepichi Keyho, VDB secretary Phek. Meanwhile, Hashe-o Venuh, bagged the third position and received Rs 15,000 sponsored by Thupuve Vero, president Phek Village Youth Organization.
The 4th place winner Munuhu Venuh was awarded with Rs 10,000 sponsored by Khosapa Venuh, president Phek District Congress Committee.
In the third edition of the Under-16 category, Kuluthi Venuh bagged the champion title and was awarded with Rs. 15,000 sponsored by Besunieyi Nienu, vice president Phek Farmers Club.
Eveto Rhakho stood second position and received Rs. 10,000 sponsored by Khrievizo Keyho, ABSI DEF Phek. The third place winner, Muziyi Chizo, received Rs. 8000 sponsored by PWA former Champion Mudonieyi Chizo.
Dzuthoku Keyho secured the 4th position and was awarded with Rs. 7000. The prize was sponsored by Shekhota Vero, finance secretary Phek District Veteran’s Football Association.
In the B-Team category, Thupumutu Chizo, Neyi Vero, Dumi Huire and Muzhi Keyho bagged the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.

Earlier, MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu and Leader of NPF Legislature Party graced the inaugural session and urged the wrestlers to develop willpower in their hunt for excellence. He also called upon the gathering to have tolerance, patience and sincere in their approach and never let down the parental aspiration. Further, Azo appreciated the Phek village which produced Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) champions such as Hukhonieyi Soho and Vedeta Nienu and Naga Open wrestling champion Surhoneyi Soho on earlier occasions.
Chivozo Soho, Chairman Phek village council graced the closing function as the Guest of honour and gave away prizes to the winners.
Thuputhiyi Venuh, PWA president delivered the presidential address while PWA joint secretary Shede Soho administered the oath taking to the wrestlers.
