The Bayavü Multi-Purpose Building was inaugurated by I. Sino Phom, Director, Department of Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, on 29th October 2024 at Bayavü, Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, the Special Guest congratulated the residents of the Colony on the new building. She mentioned that the Department of Tribal Affairs helped, however, to sanction any proposal, the availability of land is a foremost requirement. On this note, Sino Phom acknowledged the hospitable nature of the Angami tribe for accommodating all tribes and people from across the country in its land. Further, the Director emphasised on shunning tribalism and encouraged developing the quality of accommodating each other.
The Dedicatory Prayer was pronounced by Rev. Kevi Khana, Pastor, Christian Revival Church, Bayavü Hill, Kohima.
Khinyi Woch, Chairman, Bayavü Area Panchayat, in his Welcome Note, appreciated the support and contributions received since the acquiring of the land for the Multi-Purpose Building to the sanction of the project to its inauguration. He specially mentioned Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, past and present Member of Legislative Assembly from Northern Angami AC, the Department of Tribal Affairs and the residents of the Colony. Woch also said that the Colony has several plans for the future.
Neiphrelie Metha, Member, Multi-Purpose Building Committee, disclosed that colony members have contributed around ₹11 lakh towards the project.
Earlier, the other highlights of the programme included Invocation by Pastor, Lotha Baptist Fellowship Bayavü; Acknowledgement by Kenei Jamir, Secretary, Bayavü Women Organization; Rasslin’ Jacob by The Willing Souls; Vote of Thanks by Medongulie Tsürho. The event was chaired by Pirong Jamir, Secretary, Bayavü Area Panchayat.
Around 350 attended the programme for which special invitations were given to senior citizens from the Colony. The formal event was followed by the inauguration feast.
