Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has constituted a Board of Administrators to oversee the management and day-to-day functioning of the Principal Market Yard in Mokokchung until a permanent Market Committee is constituted.
The move has been made in accordance with the provisions of the Nagaland Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Act, 2020, with the newly constituted board entrusted with the powers and responsibilities of the First Market Committee under the Act.
The Board of Administrators comprises the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, as Convenor/Chief Administrator and District Agriculture Officer Dr Lanunochetla as Co-convenor. Other members include I. Panger Longkumer, Chairman, APMC Mokokchung; Temjenmenla, District Horticulture Officer; Dr Tiachuba Jamir, Chief Veterinary Officer; T. Tatong Longchar, District Fishery Officer; Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mokokchung; and members Asang Aier, Kilangtoshi, Suputoshi, Akangmeren, L. Yanger, Nukshi I. Ozukum, Bendangnukshi Walling, Nathan Ozukum, Mapuakam Kichu, Imrongkumba, Tiarenla and Ojintsungba.
The board has been mandated to exercise the powers and perform the duties vested in the First Market Committee under the Act and ensure the proper management and administration of the Principal Market Yard.

It will also regulate marketing activities within the delineated market area in accordance with the provisions of the Act and maintain proper records, accounts and assets of the Market Committee. The board will further recommend measures for strengthening agricultural marketing infrastructure in the district.
For effective administrative oversight, the Board of Administrators will function under the overall supervision and control of the ADC (Hq), Mokokchung. It will also submit progress reports to the Deputy Commissioner on a monthly or quarterly basis for review.
The constitution of the interim board is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted administration and regulation of the Principal Market Yard while facilitating a structured transition towards a permanent Market Committee in accordance with the provisions of the 2020 Act.
