Brown Sugar seized in Mokokchung Town; Wards chairmen urge vigilance

Mokokchung: Chairman of Yimyu Ward encourages everyone to report any suspicious behavior to authorities

Bendangwati, Chairman of Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung, has informed that on 12th April 2024 around 10:00 pm, Imotiba, son of Shilumeren, aged 46 years and a government employee residing at Yimyu Ward House No 23 belonging to Changtongya Village, was caught in possession of two soap cases and three small tobacco pods containing brown sugar.

In connection to this case, a reliable source informed that Nungshiyanger, son of the Late Akangmar, aged 56 years, belonging to Mokokchung Village and residing at Anentsubo Sector, Mokokchung Village House No. 302, and also a government employee, was caught with four small tobacco pods of brown sugar. He had brought the brown sugar from Imotiba.

Another person named Sarenba Aier, son of M. Rongsentoba Aier, aged 54 years and belonging to Mopungchuchet Village, and residing at Artang Ward House No. 222, who is also a government employee, was caught in possession of one small tobacco pod of brown sugar which he had bought from Nungshiyanger.

The total worth of the brown sugar seized is approximately more than 1 lakh. The case has been registered at Police Station 2 of Mokokchung Town, and the investigation is underway.

Bendangwati, the Chairman of Yimyu Ward, urged all ward members of Yimyu Ward to remain vigilant against such illicit activities and emphasized the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and reputation of the ward. He stressed the need for unity and cooperation among residents to prevent any further incidents that could tarnish the image of the ward. Additionally, he encouraged everyone to report any suspicious behavior to the authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

The Artang ward Chairman, T Ati Mongro, also informed that the ward council of Artang Ward supports the Police Department in their efforts to eradicate such illegal activities. He stated that the sellers and consumers involved in such illicit activities are not only violating the law but also endangering the well-being of the community and the ward council condemns such acts in their jurisdiction and in Mokokchung town as a whole. The Ward Chairman urged all members of the public to be aware and remain vigilant.
