A 9-member delegation of the Core Committee on Naga Political issue (CCoNPI) led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio held a meeting with the GoI representative A K Mishra on 8 September at Nagaland House, New Delhi.

Highly placed sources informed that the meeting lasted for almost two hours and the committee had conveyed to A K Mishra to resume talks with the NSCN IM at the earliest and expedite the peace process for an early settlement.

“Until and unless they resume talks and sit across the table and sort out the differences, things cannot (be) resolve(d),” the source said.

Another source informed that during the August 24 meeting held between AK Mishra and the NSCN-IM delegation led by V S Atem at Barapani, the NSCN-IM had conveyed to A K Mishra to arrange a meeting with the Prime Minister.

The core committee meeting with the Union Home Minister which was scheduled for today has been postponed to Monday, 12 September.
