The Centre Chakhesang Public Organisation (CCPO) held its General Body Meeting at Sakraba Town on November 25 and adopted several resolutions aimed at improving infrastructure, education, administration, and public welfare within the Centre Chakhesang area.
The house resolved that the newly constructed two-lane road from Pfutsero–Phek via Sakraba to Khomi should be placed under the continuous maintenance of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). CCPO stated that a specialised agency is required to ensure long-term usability and higher maintenance standards of the route.
The proposal to upgrade the existing school at Sakraba Headquarters to a Higher Secondary school was unanimously approved, with members noting that the move could reduce student migration to urban centres and enhance local educational outcomes.
To strengthen local administration, the organisation resolved to urge the government for immediate renovation of the EAC office at Sakraba and to ensure that the posted EAC is regularly present at the station.
Reaffirming environmental commitments, the house agreed to uphold the Chakhesang Public Organisation’s standing resolution on annual tree plantation drives across villages, encouraging community-led afforestation efforts.
Villages under the Centre Chakhesang area—Khomi, Pholami, Sakraba, Gidemi and Porba—expressed their desire to be placed under the jurisdiction of Assam Rifles, Pfutsero instead of BSF Satakha, citing better geographical and administrative accessibility.
To improve healthcare readiness, respective village authorities were entrusted to coordinate with the concerned department to ensure adequate first-aid medicines and emergency equipment for residents and commuters.
The house also resolved to propose the establishment of a police outpost at Sakraba Headquarters through the Deputy Commissioner, Phek, during the DPDB meeting. The organisation stated that the outpost is necessary for preventing anti-social activities and ensuring the safety of the public and administrative officials.
