Chang Khelei Setshang resolves to stand firm to ENPO resolution

Kohima: At an emergency meeting, the house resolved “not to allow any individual from Chang community to file nomination to the 2023 state NLA general election”

The Chang Khulei Setshang (Chang Tribal Council), Changsao Thangjam Setshang, and the Chang Wedoshi Setshand held an emergency meeting today at the CKS Hall in Tuensang headquarters.

According to a press release by the Media Cell of the Chang Khulei Setshang, the house resolved to stand “firm” to the 26th August 2022 ENPO resolution to abstain from participating in the upcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections until the ENPO’s demand for a separate statehood is granted by the Government of India.

The house further resolved “not to allow any individual from Chang community to file nomination to the 2023 state NLA general election” and stated that “stern action will be initiated against those individuals jeopardizing the stand of the Chang Khulei Setshang.”

The Chang Khulei Setshang also stated that it supports the Chang Wedoshi Setshang to “fully implement and act on the resolution.”

“No political campaign shall be allowed within the Chang Jurisdiction,” read the end of the press release.
