Longleng: The LI-NING 44th Inter-District & State Open Badminton Championship and Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2022 which started at Longleng on 23rd August 2022 culminated on 27th August 2022. The valedictory ceremony was graced by Y. Vikheho Swu, MLA & Former President Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA) and B. S. Nganlang Phom MLA & Chairman DPDB, Longleng as the Chief Host.

Encouraged by the participation of a 5-year-old girl in the tournament, Vikheho Swu said his concern is on how we need to take these youngsters to the level of achievement which they are looking forward to or desired for. To achieve this and to take our children to a higher level will not only depend on our politicians and administrators, but collective efforts are required. He urged the players, winners and champions of the tournament to remember and keep in mind that this achievement is just the beginning of the many successes they would be achieving in the future, and keep their mind and vision broad enough to achieve more in life.

In order to see the young sportspersons of our State shine in the field of games and sports, Vikheho called upon the parents to be more attentive and informed that parents in other states literally involve in giving identity and privilege to their children.

He also said we need more promoters and supporters, as it is not only the Government that shapes the State and country. Unless our players are well trained and sent to the academy, it is impossible for our sportsperson to compete with others. Therefore, Vikheho said participation of parents, promoters and the role of the State Government become essential in making our children succeed at the national and international level

Solidarity message was proposed by Chief Host B. S. Nganlang Phom, while Kesonyu Yhome, IAS, President, NBA pronounced the concluding remarks. Earlier, invocation was pronounced by Nyemla, Associate Pastor Women, LTBC followed by welcome address and acknowledgment by Senior Vice President, LDBA.
