A comprehensive one-day training program focusing on skill development took place in Chedema village on November 22. This initiative was organized under the auspices of the Highlanders Institute of Hotel Management and led by Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom.
The primary aim of the training was to empower the local youth, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to harness their talents effectively. This empowerment is particularly relevant as the village prepares for the 1st ever Mini Hornbill Festival to be held at Chedema village .
Speaking during the program Niihiikholii Keyho, Managing Director of Highlander emphasized the significance of entrepreneurship and the management of tourism as crucial avenues for personal and economic growth. He engaged the participants in discussions about how they can utilize their skills to create sustainable livelihoods, highlighting the importance of leveraging opportunities such as the upcoming Hornbill Festival.

Rose Rutsa, Program Manager of the Highlander also stated that by investing in their talents and embracing these opportunities, the youth can contribute positively to both their personal development and the local economy.
The program continued with practical training sessions that covered essential topics in hospitality, management, and marketing. These sessions provided the participants with valuable insights and practical skills that can be directly applied in their future endeavors, ideally positioning them to take advantage of the opportunities presented during the festival and beyond.
