Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, on Monday, encouraged students to concentrate on their education but at the same time refine other skills and interests. He added that Nagaland should be a land of entrepreneurs.
The minister was speaking at the Photo Exhibition & Artificial Intelligence (AI) Display organised by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Kohima in collaboration with St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
The event was conducted in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, 8 Years of Seva, Sushasan & Garib Kalyan and will be held for three days from 31 October to 2 November.
The minister exhorted the students to take advantage of the National Education Policy (NEP). Through the NEP 2020, the government is looking forward to making India a “global knowledge superpower” and it will be only done by making the education system for schools and colleges more flexible, holistic, and multi-disciplinary which will bring out the children’s unique capabilities, he said.
Along said under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation has been able to build robustly in a short period of eight years.
Pointing out the meaning of Seva, Sushasan & Garib Kalyan- which means Helping and upholding each other, Good Governance and to uphold the poor and the needy, he said that the vision of the Prime Minister is towards the empowerment of the people.
Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, was the special guest for the occasion. He also felicitated the winners of the competition on the theme, “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
On his arrival, the special guest was given a welcome salute by the school’s brass band in an impressive show.
Principal Director, School Education Department, Thavaseelan K, IAS, thanked the organizers for bringing together the unique concept of the exhibition and AI Display. He said that the setting up of AI in schools is fundamentally changing the way students and teachers understand and assimilate information in today’s world.
Thavaseelan further said that AI has immense potential to transform any field of human nature to sustain human life. Artificial Intelligence in education has the potential to be a game-changer for every child.
On the photo Exhibition, the Principal Director asked the students present to access information and consume knowledge through the photos since photos transcend time. It bridges generations.
Various Ministries/government departments and institutions, including Ministry of Textiles, Nagaland Women Vocational Training institute, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Post, Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Nagaland Robotic Club etc. are participating and showcasing their products in the Photo Exhibition.
In the run up to the Programme, stamp design competition, Quiz competition, prepared speech competition; extempore speech competition, Debate, essay writing competition and drawing competition were organized whereby the special guest felicitated all the winners.
The programme was chaired by Imtinaro, AIR, Kohima, and a vote of thanks was presented by P. Sophie, while Fr. Jaison CJ, Principal of St. Mary’s Cathedral Hr. Sec. School gave the welcome address.
