The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, has declared a temporary 2-km radius around three key locations as “Red Zones” or “No Fly Zones” in view of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
The order issued by Commissioner of Police, Aotula T. Imchen, IPS, stated that the restrictions have been imposed as a security measure under Rule 24 of the Drone Rules, 2021. The Red Zone restrictions will remain in force from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 15.
The designated locations are Dimapur DDSC Stadium, Chumoukedima Samaguting Stadium and Niuland Public Ground. No person will be permitted to operate a drone or Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) within the designated zones without prior permission from the competent authority.

The police department stated that the order has been issued ex-parte due to security exigencies and will be disseminated through the press and displayed on notice boards of police offices and stations.
The authorities have urged the public, drone operators and other concerned persons to strictly comply with the restrictions during the specified period.
