DBSU felicitates HSLC & HSSLC Toppers

Dimapur: Eleven Bengali toppers were felicitated during the programme prior to which, the oath taking ceremony for the new office bearers of the DBSU was held

The Dimapur Bengali Students’ Union held a felicitation programme for the HSLC and HSSLC toppers at St. Mary’s Montessori and Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on 4 September 2022. The Chief Guest for the event was Parimal Shuklabaidya, Minister of Transport, Excise & Fisheries, Government of Assam and Guest of Honour was Mmhonlumo Kikon, MLA, Advisor, IT, Science and Technology, NRE, Government of Nagaland

Speaking at the event, Kikon encouraged the toppers and said that wherever they are – to serve with dedication, selflessness and commitment and they will be able to achieve whatever they want to achieve.

Kikon further highlighted names of prominent Bengalis like Manik Bhattacharjee amongst others, who are illustrious social workers and leaders from the Bengali community who have made the community and the state of Nagaland proud.

He encouraged the toppers to aspire to follow in their footsteps and make Nagaland proud with their performance. “Shine above everyone else in the career or profession that you will choose. Then we will say you have lived a life well lived, and that you achieving this benchmark in your HSLC and HSSLC will remain in the days to come,” Kikon said.

The Guest of honour, further mentioned the crucial role of the Bengali Samaj during the pandemic and that the Government of Nagaland also recognizes the help the samaj provided not only to the Bengali community but the entire state of Nagaland.

During the event eight HSLC toppers were felicitated namely – Sneha Paul (6th Rank), Biswajit Dey (8th Rank), Abhrajit Dey (10th Rank), Kripa Deb (10th Rank), Deep Mandal (15th Rank), Shreya Ghosh (14th Rank), Souvik Kar Purkayastha (18th Rank) and Samrat Paul (19th Rank).

Three HSSLC toppers were also felicitated during the event, namely – Monoshish Bhattacharjee (3rd Rank in Commerce), Maharshee Paul (6th Rank in Commerce) and Raj Dutta (10th Rank in Commerce).  The eleven students received the Chandan Mazumdar Memorial award.

Before the felicitation programme, oath taking ceremony for the new office bearers of the Dimapur Bengali Students Union was held. Deepankar Sarkar, Rajat Ghosh, Monodeep Chowdhury and Santoshi Sutradhar will serve as the newly elected President, General Secretary, Games & Sports Secretary and Women’s Affair respectively.
