DC Mokokchung flags off MDTA contingent for 34th Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship

Mokokchung: DC encourages contingent to be disciplined, try their best to win medals and laurels for district

The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of Mokokchung District Sports Council, Thusvisie Phoji, formally flagged off the Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association (MDTA) contingent who will be participating in the 34th Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship to be held on 2nd and 3rd September 2024 in Phek district.

MDTA informed in a press release that the contingent, comprising of 33 players and accompanied by four coaches and managers to mentor the athletes, were sent off from the NST Station today in the presence of MDTA officials and parents of the young players.

Speaking briefly before the flag off, the DC Thusvisie Phoji encouraged the contingent to be disciplined and give their best during the championship. He encouraged the players to try their best and win the medals and laurels for the district.

At the same time, Phoji encouraged the players not to be discouraged if they fail to win any medals, reminding them that they are still young and have years ahead of them and more opportunities would come their way in the future for them to excel. He further wished them a comfortable stay in the host district Phek and prayed for their safe return after the championship.

Meanwhile, the MTBA Associate Pastor, Monglier read a Bible verse and invoked God’s blessing and protection for the contingent.

The MDTA was established in the year 1987. Over the years, the Association has been participating in almost all the competitions in the district and state levels. The Mokokchung district team will be competing in all categories in the 34th Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship.
