DC Wokha issues guidelines to regulate judicious use of water

In the interest of public service and in view of scarcity of water in Wokha town, and in view of the significant reduction in water quantity at Etsutchukha Water Source leading to concerns over adequate supply for public use, the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha Vineet Kumar, IAS has issued the following guidelines for strict compliance:

Unauthorised drawing of water in any form like water pumps/water pipes at the source is strictly prohibited, with no exception for private entities, tanker trucks, etc.

Washing clothes, bathing at the water source area is strictly prohibited.

Dumping of any kind of waste inside the Etsuchukha Spring Water compound is strictly prohibited.

Strict penal action shall be initiated against defaulters. In this regard, PHED Wokha has been directed to supervise and monitor to ensure strict compliance by all concerned and to impose punitive action against defaulters as per departmental set rules.

Further, PHED shall bring out regulations and instructions regarding supply of water for consumers. The guidelines has been issued as a measure to regulate and maintain for judicious and hygienic use of water.
