DDMA Kiphire, 12th NDRF conduct Mock Earthquake Drill at Pungro Town

Pungro: 250 students from four schools equipped with practical skills and knowledge for handling earthquake scenarios

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kiphire in partnership with the 12th Battalion, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh conducted a Mock Earthquake Exercise on 22nd and 23rd August at Mount Horeb Baptist School, Pungro Town.

The mock drill was led by the Deputy Commandant A. Boboi, with ADC Pungro James T. Khulu Tikhir serving as the Responsible Officer (RO) and EAC Pungro Yitachu Thur acting as the Incident Commander.

On the first day, table top exercise was held to discuss the roles of various stakeholders, the scope of the drill, alarm systems and evacuation protocols. This session focused on improving coordination among participants to ensure effective emergency response.

The following day, a School Safety Practice (SSP) program was conducted, where students participated in a high-rise rope rescue drill, which was led by ASI/GD Tajuanang. The program aimed to equip participants with practical skills and knowledge for handling earthquake scenarios.

Participants in the two-day exercise included representatives from all wards, various departments, and a total of 250 students from Mount Horeb Baptist School, Saramati School, Christian School, and Government Higher Secondary School attended the mock exercise.
