In an effort to fight drug menace, DEF Tuensang initiated an interactive session with victims of drugs addiction on 11 August 2023, a press release from the unit informed. During the program, Manish Bhartiya, IPS, SDPO Tuensang highlighted the importance of the roles of individual and responsibility to bring changes in the society and encouraged the youths to give positive inputs to fight drug menace in the society.

The SPDO further stated the health hazards of drug abuse and the impact it has on the socio-economic condition.

DEF Tuensang had earlier on 1 August 2023 recovered 14.51 grams (approx) of suspected Heroin from the possession one person names Tsaki Yimchunger (35 yrs) after intercepting an NST bus near Tuensang Town Hall.

DEF Tuensang also informed that earlier on 3 August 2023, the Superintendent of Police, Tuensang, Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, IPS conducted an awareness program on drug abuse at Chare Town with members from Village Council, DBs, students, women, and representatives from different organization.

The program deliberated on the rise of drug abuse and concluded with a pledge to work in coordination in spreading the awareness and controlling the abuses.
