Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma, IPS did not mince words in raising objection to a remark made by a retired Major General on a senior police officer of the state.

Sharma, who has a good following in social media and is very popular amongst the public, did not hesitate in taking on adverse unwarranted remarks even by an ex-army Maj General.

Retired Maj Gen Harsha Kakar who describes himself as, “Writes for multiple portals. Balanced & mature views. Security expert on TV. Josh Talks & TED x. Motivational and national security speaker” had made a comment on a senior NPS officer who was awarded the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service on Republic Day 2023.

In a video shared, the senior police officer was seen marching to the rostrum to receive the award. While his march and salute after climbing the stair of the rostrum seemed correct, his arm swing and walk were not in proper coordination initially.

Sharing the video on Twitter, Maj Gen Harsha Kakar wrote: “Show’s how sitting in Police HQ busy making money can make you forget how to even march”.

DGP Nagaland Rupin Sharma took strong objection to this statement.

He replied, “While clearly the officer is amiss, I take strong exception to the ‘sitting in PHQ busy making money part’ of your post” and added, “Individual mistakes cannot be generalised”.

The DGP took it a little further when he added, “Let this also not become a Fauji v Police mudslinging match !”

Rupin Sharma, IPS, who has shown great intent against drugs and illicit liquor in Nagaland by urging the police for the dismantling of “Rings of Poison-Sellers”, has shown once again that he is a pro-active leader.
