Emphasising the paramount importance of neutrality and fairness in the upcoming elections to the municipal and town councils in Nagaland, the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has called upon the Candidates, Political Parties, Colony Councils, G.Bs, Tribal Hohos and Political Groups to uphold the integrity of democratic processes and urged them to refrain from bias towards any individual candidate, or political party, and instead prioritize the election of the most deserving candidates.

“By electing candidates based on merit and vision for development, we can collectively contribute to a stronger and more vibrant democratic framework,” DNSU stated in a press communique.

Further, the student organisation appealed all ward councils to prohibit any form of proxy voting or outsiders which undermines the sanctity of the electoral process and also encouraged voters to resist the temptation of monetary inducements and instead prioritize the long-term benefits of electing capable leaders who will serve their communities diligently over the next five years.

“As citizens, it is our responsibility to elect leaders who will champion our ward’s development and welfare. We urge voters to exercise their democratic right with integrity and foresight, considering the future implications of their choices”, it stated.

Moreover, DNSU reaffirmed its commitment to support the electoral process, standing ready to assist whenever necessary to ensure peaceful and successful elections.
