The Eastern Flank of the NSCN/GPRN (IM) has demanded the immediate release of the inquiry report into the killing of four of its cadres, alleging serious lapses and raising questions over the delay in delivering justice.

In a statement issued by its media cell, the group claimed that tensions have been escalating over what it described as continued aggression against Nagas, particularly in the southern regions, and alleged that Government of India is trying to suppress the Naga political movement by using the Kukis as proxy. It said the act of treachery by the GoI and the Kukis cannot be compromised and tolerated in any manner.

Referring to an incident on the night of March 28, 2026, the Eastern Flank stated that four of its cadres were “gunned down savagely and inhumanely” led by Lieut. Starling and 2nd Lieut. Mathotmi Shimray (NSCN/GPRN) at Hongbei village.  “Such an act is unfathomable and cannot be erased from our memory,” it said adding, “The sacrifice of our dedicated cadres who served the Naga nation in true spirit shall not go in vain until truth prevails.”

According to the statement, the Director of the PIB, Naga Army, on March 29 had assured that those responsible would be penalised as per internal regulations. It further noted that the Yaruiwo of the NSCN/GPRN constituted a six-member inquiry committee on March 30, comprising members of the collective leadership, one Kilonser and one secretary, and directed submission of the report by April 10.

However, the Eastern Flank expressed concern that despite the directive, no findings have been made public so far. It termed the delay in disclosing the inquiry report as “highly questionable and suspicious,” that “reeks of high treason by anti-Naga pseudo leaders”.

It demanded the report to be made public and reveal the names and authorities who ordered Lieutenant Starling of Lairam Village and 2nd Lieutenant Mathotmi Shimray of Sihai Khunou Village to execute the cadres without any provocation or reason.

It warned that failure to clarify the matter and deliver justice with the highest penalty to the culprits, would lead to “irreversible consequences,” the responsibility of which would solely like on the concerned authorities.
