She mentioned PARAKH’s taxonomy provides a coherent framework to align curriculum pedagogy and assessment with competency-based assessment.

The conceptual foundation of PARAKH’s taxonomy moves beyond traditional content, recall frameworks and instead organizes learning across progressive domains ranging from foundational understanding to higher order thinking skills such as Analysis, Evaluation and Creation, she said.

She also mentioned that the competency-based question paper that this taxonomy helps to operationalise is guiding item writers to design Questions that map explicitly defining competencies and cognitive levels instead of relying on rote-based Questions. In addition, the PARAKH’s taxonomy also helps to build a linkage with the formative assessment through the Holistic Progress Card – a key strength of PARAKH’s taxonomy lies in its seamless integration with classroom level formative assessment particularly through the Holistic Progress Card.

She expressed that the PARAKH’s taxonomy acts as the backbone of India’s transition to competency-based education- Bridging the classroom practice and the Board’s assessment through a unified evidence-based framework.

The program was chaired by Siduniu Rentta, Assistant Academic Officer, NBSE and invocation was pronounced by Dziesevolie Tsürho, Academic Officer NBSE. Altogether 73 teachers from across the state are participating. The workshop will continue till the 5th of June 2026.
