From farmer’s home to Top 20: Nyakting’s remarkable HSLC feat

Nyakting from St. Paul School, Noklak, a farmer’s daughter, has made her school and the small district of Noklak proud by securing Rank 20 in the HSLC examination. This also marks the second consecutive time that St. Paul School has produced a top rank holder.

Speaking to Nagaland Tribune, Nyakting shared her thoughts on success, saying, “For me, success means becoming the best version of myself—growing every day, learning from failures, and continuing to move forward towards my goals, no matter how many setbacks I face.”

Coming from a humble background, she grew up watching the struggles and sacrifices of her parents, who are simple farmers. Those experiences became her biggest motivation to work hard and chase her dreams.

Nyakting shared that the moment of result declaration felt  joyful and overwhelming which made her unbelievable at first  ,” I felt pure joy and nervousness at the same time,” she said.

Looking back at the journey of her high school years , especially the crucial year of her Class 10,   Nyakting gave credit to her family and teachers who constantly supported her. She calls it, “My Biggest Strength.”

Talking about her study routine, the young topper shared that she did not maintain any strict study routine but made sure that she gives full concentration whenever she studied. This reflected the discipline a persistent student cultivates in achieving dreams and Nyakting proved it.

“During exams, I followed a more structured routine and studied around 5 to 6 hours,” she shared.

As obstacles always lie on everybody’s path, for Nyakting, it was the subject Science that was challenging at first, but somehow, she said that things improved and became manageable after endless study and practices.

While she mostly focused on her studies, she made sure to take short breaks to relax and refresh her mind. Still, the journey was not always easy. “There were times when I felt low and discouraged. Staying confident and consistent was sometimes difficult. But my goals and my family’s belief in me kept me going,” she says.

Though the journey of preparation was not as easy as it seems, Nyakting managed to be on top 20 of the HSLC examination which shall continue to be an inspiring example to anyone like her who Chase dreams. Her hard work has truly paid off.

On being asked what advise she would give to her juniors, Nyakting says: “Study regularly, believe in yourself, don’t get discouraged, and value even your small progress.”

She believes that ‘Procrastination’  and ‘self-doubt’ are the biggest enemies and every student must avoid and overcome it.

Looking ahead, Nyakting dreams of becoming a doctor. She plans to take up the Science stream and continue working hard towards that goal.
