From welfare to world stage: Nagaland BJP leaders praise Modi’s 12-year legacy

Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister, Yanthungo Patton on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the longest serving elected Prime Minister of India on June 10, 2026 with an unbroken tenure of 4399 days in office surpassing the record on the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Addressing media persons at BJP head office here, on the occasion “12 Years of Trust, Development and Public Welfare” of the Modi Government,” Patton mentioned that Prime Minister Modi has been in office for over 12 years, since 2014 and took oath as Prime Minister for the first time on May 26 2014, subsequently he returned for his second term in 2019, and then for his third and current stint in 2024.

During his governance of over a decade, Patton said that his achievements include lifting nearly 250 million people out of multi-dimensional poverty and building expansive Digital Public Infrastructure. Under his leadership, Patton mentioned that India became the fastest growing major economy and solidified its geopolitical influence as the voice of the Global South.

The 12 years of Modi government in office, he said have been dedicated to trust, development and public welfare. Patton said this historic milestone marks an extra-ordinary journey of public service, devoted leadership and a commitment to the aspiration of 140 crore Indians. He also highlighted that a series of welfare schemes, infrastructure projects and digital initiatives were undertaken during this period.

Emphasizing on PM Modi’ work with the spirit of “Nation First” and focused on empowering youth, women and farmers. The Deputy CM asserted that under his leadership, India has witnessed transformative progress across sectors, from infrastructure and digital innovation to social welfare, economic growth and national security.

“His vision for a stronger, self-reliant and globally respected India has inspired millions of people and has instilled renewed confidence in the nation’s future. It is the result of these tireless efforts that the country has gained a new identity on the global stage,” Patton, who is also the BLP leader in Nagaland said.

In massive Infrastructure sector, Patton highlighted about the rapid expansion of highways, railways, and airports modernized the country’s logistical capabilities. In welfare programs sector, he added the large-scale housing, sanitation, and tap water provisions were delivered to rural and urban households.

In the economic growth, Patton mentioned that India consistently secured its position as the world’s fastest-growing major economy. By 2027 India will become the third largest economy in the world, he added.

In the geopolitical and diplomatic successes global influence, Patton explained that Narendra Modi emerged as a pivotal voice for the Global South.

In the Global Honors, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed that the Prime Minister was conferred with the highest civilian honors of over 30 countries. “Under his leadership, India spearheaded major international technological, climate, and development policy frameworks. India has successfully concluded major trade agreements with leading global economies,” he said.

“I on behalf of all the BJP Karyakartas of Nagaland State convey my heartiest congratulations to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji on becoming the longest serving elected Prime Minister in the history of Independent India,” Patton said.

Patton in his address also highlighted some of the key achievements in 12 years.

Minister of Tourism and Higher Education of Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along also in his address highlighted about Modi’s 12 years as a strong foundation for a developed India.

Reviewing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12 years in office, the Minister highlighted about the links of welfare delivery, economic reform and infrastructure expansion. Along said it presents this period as the foundation for a developed India, stronger global standing and key gains

“This period has become a symbol not merely of a change in government but of a resurgence in national consciousness. It has not been limited to administrative achievements; rather, it has provided new direction and a new identity to India’s social, economic, cultural, spiritual and global character,” Along said.

The Minister said that Narendra Modi gave the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and this mantra expanded to include “Saba Vishwas” and “Sabka Prayas”, and today it has become the foundation of the resolve for a developed India.

Under his leadership, Along highlighted that the governance has prioritised service rather than power. The most significant feature of Prime Minister Modi leadership, Along said has been that he did not limit development to economic indicators alone but connected it with public welfare.

“Through the Pradhan MantriJan Dhan Yojana, crores of poor families were brought into the banking system. The Direct Benefit Transfer mechanism made government schemes more transparent and effectively curbed corruption. Today, the poor, farmers, workers and women are participating in the mainstream of development with dignity,” he stated.

“Prime Minister Modi ji has shown special sensitivity toward the welfare of the poor. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, crores of families have received permanent houses. The Ujjwala Yojana has freed mothers and sisters from smoke-filled kitchens. The Ayushman Bharat scheme has provided a strong shield of health security to poor families. Through the Pradhan Mantri Garib,” Along maintained.

The Minister also emphasized that Kalyan Anna Yojana, food security has been ensured for crores of people. Along with providing these facilities, these schemes have instilled confidence and dignity in the lives of millions, he added.

He also mentioned that India’s economic progress over the last 12 years has been a significant achievement. Today, India is among the world’s major economies and is moving rapidly toward becoming a developed nation.

Mentioning about the country’s infrastructure , the Minister said that it has also witnessed unprecedented expansion. Modern highways, expressways, railway modernisation, Vande Bharat trains, new airports, ports and digital networks have become strong symbols of India’s development journey, he cited some examples.

He further said the Chenab Rail Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, economic corridors being developed across the country, and modern roads reaching border areas reflect the confidence and capabilities of a new India. By 2027 India is going to surpass Germany and become the 3rd largest economy in the world, he said.

Speaking about Modi’s notable contributions in the field of social justice and inclusive development , The Minister highlighted that numerous schemes have been implemented for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, backward classes, persons with disabilities, minorities and other disadvantaged sections.

“Women have been made a central pillar of development and efforts have been undertaken to empower them economically, socially and politically. The Nari Shakti Vandan Act is a historic step toward increasing women’s participation in Indian democracy,” he said.

Under Narendra Modi’s leadership, Along said that India has also infused new energy into its cultural and spiritual heritage.

The Prime Minister, he said has emerged on the world stage as an effective ambassador of Indian culture, yoga, spirituality and Sanatan values. He also mentioned that the Prime Minister has played a historic role in giving yoga international recognition. Through his efforts, the United Nations declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga, he added.

The Minister also said that the policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism, efforts to strengthen border security and steps taken toward self-reliance in the defence sector have elevated India’s strategic strength to new heights.

“Today, India is not only vigilant about its own security but has also emerged as an important partner in global peace and stability. Prime Minister Modi’s leadership has taken India’s prestige in the field of foreign policy to unprecedented heights,” he said.

The Minister also highlighted about the successful presidency of the G-20, India’s influential presence on global platforms and its growing role as the voice of developing nations have placed India at the centre of world politics. He said that the world sees India not merely as a large market but as a nation that provides solutions and serves as a reliable partner.

In his concluding remarks the Minister showed confident that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India will certainly achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and will emerge as an inspiring example of progress, peace, democracy and human welfare for the global community.
