Fifty-seven-year-old Mala from Kohima can be seen sitting outside “Hortiscape” at the Hornbill Festival in Kisama Heritage Village. Her items include fast food such as chana mix, peanuts, gooseberry pickles, papad, and various other snacks. The prices of her products range from ₹10 for chana mix to ₹100 for papad.

She shared that while sales are satisfactory, the lack of a stall and sitting along the entrance without any shed has been challenging. “It’s so cold at night,” she said, adding that she only arrives around 1 or 2 PM as sales peak in the late evening.
Regarding her earnings, Mala mentioned she makes a profit of ₹1,000 daily after deducting expenses. To save on costs, she opts for a shuttle bus ride instead of expensive taxis.
