Former Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr S C Jamir, on Sunday released a video stating that he maintained “a very good health” and that it was “through the grace of God”.

This clarification came amidst false news circulating on social media reporting about the demise of the veteran politician.

This is not the first time that rumours surrounding his death have surfaced. Similar clarifications had to be made by Jamir in 2017 and 2019.

In his message he said that it was “most unfortunate” that some people were trying to spread “canard” about him. Jamir, however, added that these people may carry on with their rumours if “they desire to do so”, implying that he is unaffected by such falsehood.

The fake news that had gone viral said that the former CM of Nagaland and former Governor of Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Odisha had passed away in Delhi. Following the spread of the rumour, many people had offered their condolences without clarifying the news.
