India wins 2 gold and 2 silver medals on Day-7 of Paralympics; reclaims 13th position

Paris: Harvinder Singh becomes first and only Indian archer to clinch gold medal at the Paralympics or Olympics

On Day 7 of the Paris Paralympics, India clinched 4 medals, including two Gold and two Silver which has put India back on the 13th Position. India’s total tally is now 24 medals.

Harvinder Singh, 46 years old won the Gold Medal in the category of Archery Men’s Individual Recurve Open event. Harvinder has created history by becoming the first and only archer from India to clinch a gold medal at the Paralympics or the Olympics.

Dharambir, also claimed gold in the Men’s Club Throw F51 event with the best throw of 34.92m.

Pranav Soorma, who clinched the Silver Medal in the Men’s Club Throw F51 event with a throw of 34.59m. Pranav has claimed the first ever medal in the Men’s Club Throw F51 for India marking another significant milestone.

Sachin Sarjerao Khilari, also won the Silver Medal in the Men’s Shot Put F46 event, breaking his own Asian record with a throw of 16.32m

It is to be noted that this is the first ever for India to win a medal in the ParaClub Throw event at the ParalympicGames marking a historic day.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense pride and happiness as Indian Paralympic contingent set a record of highest ever medals for India in any Paralympics.  He praised the athletes’ dedication and passion and congratulated each player for their remarkable achievements.
