District Administration of Shamator under Mission Shakti observed the International Girl Child Day on 9th October 2024 under the theme” Culture Connects” at Cultural Hall Shamator Town.
Essay writing competition on ‘Empowering the Girl Child for a Better Future’, extempore Speech on ‘The power of Girls in Leadership and Innovation’ and painting competition on ‘Super Girl’ were held from various schools under Shamator District.
EAC, Kudazo felicitated the Young Girl Achiever and gave away the prizes. A short speech on girl child was delivered by Deputy Commissioner Shamator, I. Chubatemjen, NCS.
Wokha
Along with the rest of the world, Wokha District Administration, Department of Social Welfare and District Sanklap Hub for Empowerment of Women under BBBP organised the International Day of Girl Child 2024 at DC’s conference hall, Wokha on 11th October 2024.
EAC Wokha, Rosy Sangtam while delivering the key note address, said the day was being celebrated to raise awareness about the challenges girl child face and also to promote their empowerment. She also stated the day was observed to support and give more opportunities for girls and increase awareness of gender inequality faced by girls based upon gender, where she urged all to contribute in promoting and educating girl child.
During the occasion, eight (8) local champions of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) under Mission Shakti 2024 were identified and felicitated from different departments and NGOs, Thungbeni Ngullie President Lotha Eloe Hoho, Khyochano Ezung (Vice chairman of MSME PCI-micro small and medium enterprise promotion council India), Dr. Thungdeno P Murry (Medical Officer AYUSH), Subeno Odyuo (Police- ASI), S. Zuchibeni Odyuo (Primary Teacher), Libenin B Jungio (Legal Aid Defence Counsel System), Chumreno W Kikon (Sports) and Mharoli Gigi Khuvung (Sports).
Winners of online photo competition which was held in two categories namely, father & daughter and grandfather & granddaughter categories were also presented during the programme. Father daughter categories first – Obenro S Kikon & Shanpan Kikon, second – Renbeni Patton & Lichumo Patton and third- Liya & Zurenthung Ezung. Grandfather & daughter categories, winner Nzanrhoni Murry & Zubon Murry, second- Khonzani & Arao Tsanglao and third- Chonbeni & Yankhoromo Erui.
Short speech was also delivered by Sr. Supervisor, ICDS Erenbeni Kikon and Thungbeni Ngullie President Lotha Eloe Hoho.
