International Widows’ Day observed in Shamator

The International Widows’ Day was observed in Shamator, organised by Mission Shakti, Department of Social Welfare, Shamator, with Deputy Commissioner, Shamator, Arikumba NCS as special guest on June 23.

In his speech, DC wished all the widows and acknowledged the role of widows in the society. He expressed that the today is celebrated not only to share the grievances, struggle, challenges and hardship faced by the widows, but also to acknowledge the strength, resilience of doing good things and contribute positive role by the widows.

He also urged the gathering not to lost hope but always stay positive and strong to continuously contribute by standing side by side with the rest of the society. He also said the widows must become economically empowered to take care of the entire family and gets benefitted to help in educating their children and family to become more secured.

Renchano Odyuo, District Programme Officer also acknowledged the Deputy Commissioner for sparing his valuable time and attending the program besides other busy encouragement. He appealed to all the widows to always remain strong with positive attitude as they are not left alone, but the department will always be there for them in times of their needs.
