KCCI calls for shutter down in Kohima on 26th April in support of Dimapur trading community

Kohima: Pharmacies, hotels and bakeries exempted from purview of protest

The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has decided to call for a one-day shutter down on 26th April 2024 (Friday) from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm to show its solidarity to Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).

In a press release, KCCI president Kezhazer Angami and General Secretary Henry Chisüte appreciated DCCI for “taking a bold and firm stand to express the grievances of the business community in general by way of calling for an indefinite downing of shutters in Dimapur.”

The Dimapur trade body had earlier announced indefinite shutter down of all shops and business establishment from 26th April in protest of the unabated harassment by Naga political groups on a daily basis.

Its Kohima counterpart stated on Wednesday that the “challenges and problems highlighted by DCCI is a common affliction faced by the business and trading community in general and a contemplative concern to all”.

Through its press release, KCCI appealed for support and cooperation from its members, civil societies and public while also informing that pharmacies, hotels and bakeries would be exempted from purview of the protest.
