The Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) convened a consultative meeting on Thursday at White Hall, Noklak Village where it resolved to strictly monitor the management of schools in the district for smooth functioning and quality education of schools. The meeting was attended by all the Village Council Chairman’s (VCCs), Village Education Committees (VECs), Federating Units and Teachers Representatives of Schools under Khiamniungan jurisdiction.

Through a press release, KSU President Shangchiu and Education Secretary Ningpao informed that during the consultative meeting, the house resolved “to strengthen the working status” of the VEC, School Management Committee (SMC) and School Management and Development Committee (SMDC).

In this regard, it sought the details of all VEC/SMC/SMDC members and of action taken reports to improve student enrolments. The reports have been asked to be submitted to the KSU office on or before 15th March 2024.

The house also resolved to implement strict disciplinary action against any erring teacher, student or VEC/SMC/SMDC members and the same must be reported to KSU.

Further, the Khiamniungan Students’ Union informed that the house urged all concerned Village Councils to make necessary steps in providing accommodation for the teaching and non teaching staff of the schools for efficient service.
