Khonoma Students Union to host ASU’s 31st Biennial General Conference from April 4-6

The Angami Students’ Union is all set to hold its 31st Biennial conference from April 4 to  April 6 at Khonoma Village under the theme “Prēgè” .

Announcing this during a press conference at ASU office in Kohima,  Neinguvotuo Krose, Convener Organizing committee highlighted that N. Jacob Zhimomi,  Minister, PHED & Cooperation will grace the event as the special guest. The 31st ASU General Conference will witness young,  dynamic and intelligent speakers, he added. Krose also highlighted that the conference is expecting about 2000 delegates from high school, college and university students. “The conference is also looking forward for the presence of senior leaders, elders and frontal organizations. We also hope that the Naga students federating units, valuable donors and well wishers to make this conference a successful one,” said Krose.

Khonoma being the first green village in India and with their successful implementation of Khonoma nature conservation since 1998, the ASU as a sign of support and solidarity towards this endeavor, have decided that the entire delegates present during the conference to undertake a pledge in the form of signature campaign for conservation and preservation of nature. The Union also emphasised that the idea is initiated to convey a message of how conservation of nature is a collective responsibility.

While addressing the press conference, ASU President, Khriesamhalie David Mere highlighted that the 31st General conference is expecting 500 plus invitees. Mere announced that new executive members of ASU will be re-elected for the tenure 2025-2027 during the conference.

Mere also thanked the public and power department for their cooperation during the recently held HSLC / HSSLC examination.

The upcoming conference will witness various dignitaries as well wishers Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister, Women Resource Development & Horticulture who will be the chief host; Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor, School Education & SCERT as the introductory guest; Prasielie Pienyü, Former President ASU & Chairman NHHDC Ltd as the Talent Night Guest; Medo Yhokha, Former President ASU, Former MLA & Advisor as  Valedictory Guest; Dr. Keduolhoulie Belho, Associate Professor, Kohima College as Theme speaker; Dr. David Sachü, Asst. Professor. (PG) Sazolie College as Academic Speaker; and Khriezosietuo Kire, Pastor, High School Area CRC Kohima as the Devotional Speaker.
