The Kisetong Village Students’ Union (KVSU) organized a seminar on 27th August 2024 at Kisetong Village to highlight the crucial role of rural libraries in promoting knowledge and community development. The event, themed “Importance of Rural Library,” featured K. Rothrongki Sangtam, Patron and Proprietor of Trinity School Kiphire and former President of KVSU, as the resource person.
In his address, Sangtam emphasized the significance of libraries as institutions that foster knowledge, enhance reading and writing skills, and provide access to lifelong learning opportunities. He also stressed their role as social hubs that bring communities together, cultivating a love for reading and promoting social cohesion.
The seminar, chaired by Lumrila, began with a welcome address by the Executive Chairman of KVSU and an invocation by Pastor KBL. Thsikichum Sangtam, President of KVSU, expressed his gratitude to all participants and attendees for making the event a resounding success.
The seminar underscored the importance of rural libraries in empowering communities, promoting education, and fostering social unity. By highlighting the value of libraries, Kisetong Village Students’ Union aims to inspire and motivate individuals to establish and support these vital institutions in their areas.
