Kohima district level coordination meeting for ULB elections held

In view of the upcoming elections to Kohima Municipal Council and Chiephobozou Town Council, 2024, the district level coordination meeting was held on June 12, 2024 at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima with the ward authorities and political parties.

According to DIPR, the meeting was chaired by Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima. He urged the ward authorities and political parties for cooperation and assist the polling officials deputed on election duty. Anthony Ngullie, NCS, Secretary to Government of Nagaland and Election Observer for Kohima Municipal Council asked the Ward Officials to strictly follow the Model Code of Conduct to ensure free and fair elections. S. Tainu Khiamnungan, NCS, Addl. Secretary to the Government of Nagaland and Election Observer for Chiephobozou Town Council requested the ward authorities and political parties to take the election matters seriously, as it is a process to elect the representatives for progress and development. She urged the ward leaders to work within the guidelines issued by the state election commission.

During the meeting, Lanusenla Longkumer, NCS, Returning Officer, KMC and Alemyapang Longchar, NCS and Returning Officer, Chiephobozou Town Council highlighted the status of nominations filed respectively and requested the ward authorities to assist the Sector Officers and election officials in the distribution of Voter Information Slips to the voters. Relo Aye, NPS, Addl. SP and District Police Nodal Officer for Kohima district stated that necessary security arrangements will be made for the elections in both the ULBs. The leaders from the wards also shared suggestions for successful conduct of elections
