Kohima police seize counterfeit cosmetic and beauty products

Kohima Police has initiated legal action based on credible inputs regarding the sale of suspected counterfeit cosmetic products within its jurisdiction.

During specific checks in 5 shops around Razhü Point and Y-junction area, huge quantity of suspected counterfeit cosmetic and beauty products, falsely marketed under reputed brand names including LAKME were seized. A case has been registered vide North PS Case No. 0011/2026 U/S 318(4) BNS 2023 r/w section 63 Copyright Act 1957.

In this connection, five accused persons have been arrested are currently in judicial custody and investigation is underway.

Stating that such activities not only violate the rights of companies but also pose potential health risks to consumers, Kohima police has advised citizens to purchase cosmetic products only from authorised sellers and verify product authenticity before use.

Any suspicious products may be reported to the nearest police station.

Kohima Police reiterated its commitment towards ensuring public safety and taking strict action against illegal activities.
