Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B Henok Buchem, officials, and representatives of various sports associations of Kohima district held a meeting at the DC’s Office, Kohima on September 18 in preparation for the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2026, scheduled to be held from November 2 to 14 in Chümoukedima and Dimapur.
Representatives from the Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Taekwondo, Archery and Wushu associations attended the meeting and briefed the DC on their preparations for the Games.
The meeting discussed the logistics and expenditure requirements of the Kohima district contingent. Regarding the selection trials for Athletics, in view of resource constraints, the DC endorsed the use of the Indira Gandhi Stadium free of charge from the Department of Youth Resources & Sports for conducting the selection trials.

The meeting also selected the Chief de Mission and Deputy Chief de Mission for the Kohima district contingent. The officials further deliberated on the revival of the Kohima District Sports Council. It was decided that a meeting would be convened soon after the Olympic and Paralympic Games to initiate the process for its revival.
The members further decided to seek clarification from the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) regarding the permitted number of athletes, managers, physiotherapists, and other officials for each district contingent.
It was decided to convene another meeting on September 23, after receiving the necessary clarification from the NOA and finalising the contingents for all sports disciplines.
