At the event, 82-year-old Lhoubeiü Solo captivated the crowd with a melodious song. A minute of silence was also observed in honour of the departed members in the preceding year.

Presently, Friends of 80 Plus has a total of 207 elderly members from four khels in the village including 72 men and 132 women. Formed by a few likeminded citizens of Kohima Village, the initiative aims to create a platform for young people to celebrate the presence of grandparents and elders of the village.

Since its inception, Friends of 80 Plus have marked the 30th of April every year as its Foundation Day, celebrating collective community day where elders are honoured with gestures of kindness. The day also serves as an opportunity to remind the younger generation of the great privilege of having so many elders in their midst.

The program was chaired by Vilakuolie Mere while Kevitsu Yhome pronounced the vote of thanks.

A free check up was facilitated for all the 80 Plus members after conclusion the formal programme.
