The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU), on Tuesday, issued directives for the members of the Konyak community with regard to the Hornbill Festival 2022. The Union stated that it stands firm by the resolution of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) to abstain from the State Festival which is held every year from 1–10 December at Kisama in Kohima.

KSU held an emergency meeting on 29 November 2022 and there it was resolved that “no Konyak Citizen shall attend the State Hornbill Festival 2022 until and unless a clear cut directive is received from the Office of the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation.”

It also directed that no traditional attires and ornaments belonging to the tribe will be displayed or used by any individual or group “in any manner” at the Hornbill Festival.

The Union instructed all its federating and sub-ordinate units to “implement the directives effectively” and cautioned that those who fail to comply “shall be doing so at their own risk.”
