The Konyak Union has on Tuesday condemned the violence in Manipur perpetrated by both the ‘Meiteis and the Kuki brothers’ without any regard for human dignity. It stated that it stands in solidarity with the victims and their families of Manipur violence and prays for early restoration of peace in the state.

The union said it is anguished by the unprecedented violence, rampant arson and deliberate attack on place of worship and falsely painting communal colour to the conflict by different outlets and vested interest.

Violence only begets violence, KU stated and urged that both the parties explore ways to engage in a positive dialogue and address the differences between the communities. It added that peace can only prevail when the majority and the minority groups have mutual respect for each other and when there is no discrimination.

Further the Union also fervently appealed to all groups to shun all forms of violence and pursue the path of peace in the region.

The Konyak Union also requested Centre and Manipur State Government and other stakeholders to explore ways and take immediate measures and to ensure safety and security of all citizens.

Furthermore, the union extended its profound gratitude to the Government of Nagaland and the IGAR (North), Kohima for safely evacuating Nagas stranded in Manipur.
