Konyak Union makes it mandatory for visitors to get ‘Clearance Certificate’ before travelling to Mon district

Mon: Scholars, writers, and individuals engaged in research activities must obtain clearance from KU

The Konyak Union (KU) has today made it mandatory for visitors and tourists to obtain a ‘Clearance Certificate’ from its office if they intend to explore Mon district. Not only that, tourists and visitors must be accompanied by a ‘guide, who will be provided by KU Office. This rule will be implemented with immediate effect, the Union has informed in a press notice.

The Konyak Union has said that it was introducing this new rule for the “safety and security of all visitors” and also “to avoid any misgivings or wrong reports about the region”.

“Any tourist or outside visitor found within the district without the necessary clearance certificate and guide will be questioned by KU authorities,” the notice cautioned.

Moreover, the apex body of the Konyak tribe appealed to scholars, writers, and individuals engaged in research activities to obtain a ‘Clearance Certificate’ from the KU Office before undertaking any thesis, journal writing, videography, documentary production, or report related to the Mon district.

In this regard, KU has assigned village authorities and councils to check within their jurisdiction and ensure that every tourist or visitor carry the ‘Clearance Certificate’ and report any defaulters immediately.
