KSC marks 10th Foundation Day, felicitates outstanding sports achievers

The Khiamniungan Sports Council (KSC) held its 10th Foundation Day-cum-Executive Session on June 11 at the residence of the KSC Treasurer. The celebration featured a special felicitation programme honouring achievers from different sports disciplines.

KSC President,  T Musho Lam in his presidential address acknowledged the district’s inborn sporting talent, noting that athletes from Noklak have earned recognition at the state level. However, he highlighted the challenges posed by limited or inadequate sports facilities and the need to improve standards. He stated that the district still remains at a foundational stage compared to many other districts.

Lam emphasized the importance of promoting sports among the younger generation while maintaining a balance between sports and education. He also expressed appreciation to the federating units of various sports disciplines for their efforts in nurturing young athletes in the district.

Five individuals were felicitated for their outstanding achievements in various fields of sports and coaching.

Tsutsoi T, who is also known as the Golden Girl of Noklak, was felicitated for winning a Bronze Medal in the 5000m Run at the 1st Khelo India Tribal Games held in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, from March 30 to April 3, 2026.

Khunou P was felicitated for securing a Gold Medal in the Cadet Category Kyorugi Championship held at the Laban Sports Club Indoor Sports Complex, Shillong, and organized by the All Meghalaya Taekwondo Association from May 15–17, 2026.

Yamchan was honoured for attaining the All India Football Federation (AIFF) AFC ‘C’ Diploma during the Coaching Convention held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, from May 6–16, 2024.

C Tongjen Thai was felicitated for successfully completing the Athletics Federation of India Pre-Level 1 Coaches Course conducted between September 3 and October 2, 2024.

P Mulai was also felicitated for successfully completing the Athletics Federation of India Pre-Level 1 Coaches Course conducted between September 3 and October 2, 2024.

A special prayer for the achievers and the KSC was pronounced by A Penglang Pastor NTBC.

Earlier, the program was chaired by PL Shingnya Executive Chairman KSC, Invocation by Langa, Deacon, NTBC. The  programme concluded with a renewed commitment by the Council and its affiliated units to strengthen sports development andopportunities for aspiring athletes in the district.
