Mokokchung witnessed a momentous event as the 30th Presentation Ceremony of the Mayangnokcha Awards for Academic Excellence illuminated the Town Hall today. The ceremony, graced by the presence of Temjenmenba, MLA and Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Government of Nagaland, was a testament to the enduring legacy of academic prowess that continues to shape the region.
Addressing the gathering, Temjenmenba expressed profound admiration for the Mayangnokcha legacy, attributing its survival to the indomitable spirit of its founding members. Amidst thunderous applause, he conveyed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Nagaland populace, acknowledging the monumental efforts that have kept Mayangnokcha’s vision alive.

Reflecting on the transformative journey of education, Temjenmenba harked back to a time when Christianity arrived in Nagaland, introducing new means of communication and illuminating the path towards humanity’s survival. He painted a vivid picture of his grandfather, Mayangnokcha, born in an era overshadowed by headhunting and limited resources, yet determined to be a guiding light. “From farmland to school, overcoming countless obstacles, his journey epitomizes determination,” Temjenmenba emphasized.
Undoubtedly, the driving force behind this resilience was determination. Mayangnokcha’s tenacity in the face of adversity serves as a poignant lesson for today’s generation, a quality vital for success in any field or era. “Education is not confined to classrooms; it encompasses values handed down through generations,” Temjenmenba noted, highlighting the significance of humility, history, and ethical choices.
With unwavering conviction, Temjenmenba impressed upon the audience the importance of embracing responsibility with three pillars: inclusive policies, accommodative thoughts, and magnanimous actions. Drawing parallels between Mayangnokcha’s time and today, he urged the students to become torchbearers of the technology era, emphasizing that the values instilled by predecessors would guide them towards making informed choices.
In a moving conclusion, Temjenmenba paid homage to his grandfather’s wisdom, pledging to channel the sacrificial values he had imbibed into his political journey, aspiring to create positive change. He cautioned against succumbing to the allure of Artificial Intelligence without moral grounding, advocating for responsible utilization.
As the ceremony drew to a close, the roll of honour was unveiled, shining a spotlight on exceptional achievers. Notable recipients included Khotolu Cürha from Mezhür Higher Secondary School Kohima, Mulungsula Changkiri from Holy cross Hr Sec school, Dimapur, Zuluienla T Jamir from Queen Mary Hr Sec School Mokokchung, and Thsatangpa Sangtam from Loyola Hr Sec School Kiphire, among others.

The ceremony was eloquently guided by Dr Awala Temshi, Administrator, Straight Way Christian Mission Centre with a soul-stirring invocation by Ayala Lemtur, Associate Pastor, Children Ministry, Artong Baptist Church setting the stage for a special presentation titled “The Educationist” by the Youth Department, NCRC, Mokokchung.
