Kohima Police have registered a case following a complaint of alleged sexual assault lodged at the Women Police Station.
According to police, the incident reportedly occurred on May 12 at around 7:30 p.m at Kisama, where an unidentified person allegedly entered the residence of two female victims while they were having dinner and assaulted them. The accused also allegedly attempted to rape the victims.
Police stated that one of the victims sustained grievous injuries and was immediately shifted to Bethel Hospital for medical treatment.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Women Police Station under Sections 62, 74, 76 and 117(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

The alleged accused, identified as Seyienei-u (28), has been arrested and placed under police remand.
Police informed that the matter is under active investigation and necessary legal action would be taken as per law. It urged the public to cooperate with the investigation and refrain from spreading unverified information.
